Faisal Mosque
Islamabad, Pakistan

A contemporary mosque breaking the classical mold with a desert-tent form — praised for marrying modern geometry with the spirit of Arabian architecture. Among the great modern mosques of South Asia.
Story & history
The Turkish architect Vedat Dalokay designed it as a Bedouin tent with four slender minarets; the Margalla Hills framed it until it became the symbol of modern Islamabad.
