The first revelation
The first verses were revealed to the Prophet ﷺ in the cave of Hira, beginning with the command to read and to seek knowledge:
ٱقۡرَأۡ بِٱسۡمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مِنۡ عَلَقٍ ٱقۡرَأۡ وَرَبُّكَ ٱلۡأَكۡرَمُ ٱلَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِٱلۡقَلَمِ عَلَّمَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مَا لَمۡ يَعۡلَمۡ你应当奉你的养主——创造者的名义而宣读， 他曾用血块创造人。 你应当宣读，你的养主是最尊严的， 他曾教人用笔〔写字〕， 他曾教人知道自己所不知道的〔东西〕。
What is it about?
- Tawhid: belief in one God without partner.
- The prophets and earlier nations, and lessons from their stories.
- Law and ethics: worship, dealings, justice and mercy.
- The Hereafter: resurrection, accountability, Paradise and Hell.

ذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبُ لَا رَيۡبَۛ فِيهِۛ هُدٗى لِّلۡمُتَّقِينَ这部经，其中毫无可疑，是敬畏者的向导。
