Masjid al-Taneem (Aisha)
Al-Taneem, north of Makkah, Saudi Arabia

The nearest miqat to the Grand Mosque. Here Umm al-Mu'minin Aisha (may God be pleased with her) entered ihram for Umrah by the Prophet's permission, and it remains the practice for Makkans entering Umrah from this side.
Story & history
When Aisha (may God be pleased with her) wished to perform Umrah after Hajj, the Prophet ﷺ sent her with her brother Abd al-Rahman to al-Taneem to enter ihram there — establishing a sunnah for the people of Makkah that endures today. It is now an official miqat with multilingual signs, and streams of pilgrims arrive from the Haram to complete their Umrah.
