Masjid al-Ghamama
Near the Prophet's Mosque, Madinah, Saudi Arabia

Built where the Prophet ﷺ prayed for rain and clouds soon covered the sky. It is one of the loveliest survivors of old Madinah architecture, with slender minarets and small domes.
Story & history
Seerah books relate that the Prophet ﷺ went out to the prayer ground, turned to the qibla and asked God for rain, whereupon a cloud appeared and covered even the mountains — the mosque was named after that event. Built in the Umayyad era and renewed by Madinah's governor Umar ibn Abdul-Aziz, it was later perfected by Ottoman builders whose domes and minarets still stand.
